“In fact, leaders of companies that go from good to great start not with “where” but with “who.” They start by getting the right people on the bus, the wrong people off the bus, and the right people in the right seats. And they stick with that discipline—first the people, then the direction—no matter how dire the circumstances.”
Jim Collins – Good to Great
We cannot agree more with Collins on this perspective.
We are a relatively small and fast moving team headquartered in Silicon Valley. We have been hiring exceptional talent from the beginning because we firmly believe in the Jim Collins advice about where most companies go wrong in business. When Collins and his team examined the companies that transformed from average to extraordinary, the difference was extraordinary people.
Starting up a new business enterprise is something I have long dreamed about. While completing my MBA I took classes in entrepreneurship and made it a goal for my professional career. I was incredibly lucky to work in a series of start-ups within Hewlett Packard, Co for many years. During that time I lived and worked in Europe, Asia and United States. After exciting years of working with first rate colleagues and customers, I left in 2009 to create my own company.
Starting up Malama Consulting, Inc. is the culmination of career focused on creating strategies and tools for fast growth and high profits through a passionately loyal customer base. With the advent of pervasive tools on the web to support communities of customers, the time is right to bring Enterprise class customer loyalty programs to small businesses where the speed of deployment and ROI will be most dearly valued.
I hold a degree in International Relations from The Johns Hopkins University and an MBA from the University of Southern California. I love meeting people whether it’s through professional networking, SCUBA diving, backpacking in the Sierra Mountains or most recently in the canine search & rescue community. Give me a call/tweet/SMS/FB post and check in. I’d love to hear from you.

I enjoy both technology and the field of creative arts, so what’s more fun than merging the two to help top high tech businesses market their solutions with compelling messages and innovative ideas. For the last twenty plus years I’ve worked with giants like HP, IBM, and Cisco as well as nimble and cutting edge companies like DataStax, Coverity, SGI, and Mercury to help plan and execute strategies and activities to attract, reward and engage customers. I have a B.S. in computer science and a master’s degree in education and instructional technology from U.S.C.
I enjoy working with people on projects and events where communication and interaction are key goals. Drawing on my deep experience supporting sales and marketing initiatives, I can work very quickly to find creative options for companies who are looking to evolve their brand and relationship with customers. All this with a focus on results in building business opportunities and memorable branded events. Before joining the Malama team I gained experience with CA, Mercury, HP, Oracle, Peoplesoft and other firms in North America.
Passionate about family and friends, I enjoy cooking and entertaining for others. I have a degree from Universite de Sherbrooke in French with emphasis on technical writing and communications.
I have 20+ years of industry experience which ranges from helping startups get off the ground, to experience spanning technical marketing, software development, business development, alliance management and alliance marketing. Worked with multiple startups building marketing plans and managed all aspects of marketing from website design and content development to press and analyst relations.
Managed multiple strategic partnerships at HP including Microsoft and IBM Rational from a developer perspective; and VMWare and Citrix for HP Software. Set up the HP Software ISV program for partner self-serve. Created a tiered program and started a small perpetual revenue flow for the company and recruited new gap-filling partners into our program which grew to over 120 partners under my leadership. Spearheaded marketing programs that brought in upwards of $100 Million through the channel by helping our partners sell more HP Software; via co-marketing programs and marketing demand generation campaigns that generated more net new leads for our partners.
I enjoy working with small and fast moving businesses. For prior 15 years have worked in technology firms creating customer programs and supporting sales and customer success teams. I have a strong expertise in project management. What I find most enjoyable is helping teams focus on key objectives and deliverables and then working daily to make those milestones happen. I love learning new tools for both internal team performance improvement as well as solutions which support B2B customer interactions.
My family provided us with an international background, as I was born & raised in El Salvador and then moved to US for middle and secondary school.
My husband and I have two sons and are very active with our family business Mesh Lacrosse. This helps me understand the challenges and rewards which all small businesses face today.
